Hi,
I'm hoping that someone has seen a similar issue and can suggest a fix or a work-around.
A trial site for a customer was upgraded recently to SP online 2013. A requirement for this site is that it creates documents based on a number of templates from a workflow. This was working prior to the upgrade through a WF that fired on item creation and selected the content type ID, depending on the contents of a column in the source list.
Now, if I create a Doc Library and "Allow management of Content Types", the document is created by the workflow but when I try to open it in the browser it I get the following error:
Sorry, Word Web App ran into a problem opening this document. To view this document please open it in Microsoft Word
When I try to open it in Word, or download it I get a message telling me that "The file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents" with no error details available in the Details.
If I create a Doc Library and do not select "Allow management of content types", the workflow creates the document as above but the document is viewable in the browser, can be opened and/or downloaded in Word.
MS Support are looking into this for me, however, time is critical, so I was hoping that, if someone out there had not come across this problem before, they may be able to point me in the right direction to achieve the same results without selecting "Allow Management of Content Types" ie, the ability to automatically create different templates depending on the status of a field in the source list.
The perfect outcome (apart from solving the issue of course), would be to find an OOB method to achieve this but I know that's going to be tricky, maybe a code solution is the only way around this. If so, I'll dive in as best I can (not a developer).
I'd appreciate any feedback...
