OK, so this is a confusing one. Starting a couple weeks ago, my access to any service running on the *.sharepoint.com domain from my home network has been blocked 49 out of 50 times (sites and OneDrive for Business). I can access any other Microsoft site just fine, including https://portal.microsoft.com. And I can access thehttps://*.sharepoint.com sites on the same PC when I'm at work. And while I'm blocked from the SharePoint sites at home, I can access every other site on the Internet just fine.
I'm using Verizon Fios in Northern Virginia, so this is not a fly-by-night ISP.
I've used Fiddler to trace this issue down to the initial port 443 tunneling. On the off chance I do get a tunnel established (that rare 1 out of 50 time), subsequent page loads during the same browser session work fine. But as soon as I start a new session, I once again cannot establish the tunnel. Could there be any IP filtering on Microsoft's end that would only be applied to the port 443 filtering? Verizon has issued me three new IP addresses over the last week, and they all fail.
Not surprisingly, Verizon is saying this is a Microsoft issue and indicating SharePoint Online must be invalidly blocking Verizon IP addresses. And in communications with Microsoft support, Verizon is being blamed. Meanwhile, I'm locked out of crucial services when I'm at home.
One additional note: This is happening with all devices on my home network; this is not a specific PC issue. Manesh, the friendly Microsoft tech who has been helping me, worked with me for hours to determine this is not an issue with my PC equipment. My guess is it's some low level network plumbing regarding SSL communications between the Verizon and Microsoft networks.
This issue is currently being tracked under support ticket:
SRX1290901072ID
Can anyone help with this. Ideally, I'd love it if Microsoft and Verizon would work together to solve this issue. I can't really recommend Office 365 to my customers if I myself am locked out of crucial resources and the two vendors I pay lots of money to each month can't have a conversation to figure this out.
Thanks,
Paul
