Last week I ran into an issue and I can't figure out why it is happening. One of my customers is using SharePoint Online and is having an issue with a list and lookup column that are sorting in a really strange way.
The list is a custom list with all single line of text columns. Nothing special, just basic information. If I sort the list on column A or C, there is no problem. But when I sort the list ascending on column B, the first 29 values are sorted in mixed and after that it's sorting like it should. The same thing happens when I sort the list descending, only difference is those 29 values are at the end.
I found this issue because I'm using this column B as a lookup column in a document library and users were complaining that the values in the lookup field weren't sorted.
I can't think of a reason why this is happening and can't find any solution on the internet. Can anyone help me?
