Refreshing Excel Services Web Part

Hi everyone,

I'm really hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've been learning SharePoint for the last few months by researching the amazing amount of information on the net.

I'm using SharePoint Online and I have what I thought was be a common and straight forward desire, to display an Excel dashboard that I've created in Excel (local) and saved into the 'Reports' library.

The dashboard connects to multiple SharePoint lists in the same site to manipulate the data and return the results in graphs etc. I thought this next step would be easy... display the graphs that are in the Excel workbook in a SharePoint web page using the Excel Service Web Part however its not. I can display the graph however it will not automatically refresh when the page is loaded. When the page loads/refreshes I receive a warning first that I'm running a query, and after accepting that warning I receive an error that the query cannot be run.

The only way I have found to refresh the data in the Excel workbook is to open it locally, refresh the data manually (even though I have configured the connections to auto-refresh) and then save it back to SharePoint. This however cannot be the solution that Microsoft intended for SharePoint Online users so I'm obviously missing something.

Can someone please point me in the direction of sanity as I'm beginning to loose it over what I felt would be a simple and intuitive function?

Thanks in advance,
Conrad
