How to share a single document library with multiple sites

I wanted to see if there was a way to share a single document library with multiple sites. My idea was to centralize the library as our document repository so that multiple copies of things were not flying around and all sites could contribute to this one library.

Currently I have 5 sites (Engineering, OPS, SALES etc)

Is this the base way to do this?
