Workflow expiration in SharePoint Online - Workflow no longer says "completed"

I have created many document libraries in SharePoint Online that have views that will not allow a user to view the contents of a library unless a particular workflow has completed.  For example, the "All Documents" default view on the library will have a condition that reads "Show only when *workflow name*=5".  This works great, but the workflows seem to expire after a few months and the workflow column will no longer say "completed" (which is the same as 5).  I have attached a screen shot of the issue below.

As you can see, items created on December 4th will still be view-able because the workflow still = 5 (or Complete).  The average user can no longer see items created on December 3rd even though they should be able to.  The workflow completed when the document was created, but is no longer listed as such.

This is consistent across at least 20 different document libraries.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
