Create a new file options disappear

When I create a new document library in SharePoint Online, and then click the new button I get the following options for creating a new file.

Before

Once I add a custom content type to that same library, my options change to the following with “MCC Document” being my newly added custom content type.

How can I get back the options to add OneNote, and PowerPoint and excel documents?
