I tried to test what can and cant be done givin each user a different type of permission (full control, edit, contribute, view, view only) on the documents that were uploaded to SharePoint Online. I got some unexpected results and was wondering if this is normal or if there is a problem, and if so, how to fix it. Please let me know if the following are expected results or not
- With "contribute" permission, the user was able to change the user's permissions (If the user opens the document NOt on the browser but using the Office application, the user can click "Allow edit"), was able to export/download the document and save the document with a different name if the user downloads the document on the Office application, and was able to print the document.
- With "view" permission, the user is able to change the user's permissions (If the user opens the document NOT on the browser but using the Office application, the user can click "Allow edit"), is able to open the document with the Office application and then save it with a different name (therefore, able to export the document), and able to print the document if opening with the Office application
- With "view only" permission, the user is able to change the user's permissions (If the user opens the document NOT on the browser but using the Office application, the user can click "Allow edit"), is able to open the document with the Office application and then save it with a different name (therefore, able to export the document), is able to "copy and paste" the contents in the document, and able to print the document if opening with the Office application
are these results expected? from what I read on "what can be done and cant be done" with each type of permission, the previously mentioned actions should NOT be able to be performed by the user. Why is this happening?
