Link to Document in Sharepoint That will open in Office Client App

As you probably know, when linking from SharePoint to documents the link opens the document in office on line<o:p></o:p>

There used to be a workaround for this issue - you could open the document in client app office and then copy its address from the file location box in the upper left corner (see screen shot)

Now when I use this method the document is downloaded locally which is not the solution I'm looking for<o:p></o:p>

So is there a way of generating a link to a document in SharePoint that will open in office client app without downloading the document locally?<o:p></o:p>
