To deploy branding artifacts (master pages, CSS etc.) I have used Visual Studio; however, the SP2013 Online does not allow WSPs. From my research, sandboxed solution isone way; however, MS calls it deprecated feature so I would look to continue researching. Now one could make the changes directly in the SP2013 Online and then save the artifacts in code repository but NOT ideal.
So, what are our options (Best Practice) to be able to deploy customization to the SP2013 Online?
