Simple email workflow not working, and not appearing with the list

Hi there,

We have SharePoint Online - currently still using 2010, though it has now made us upgrade SharePoint Designer to 2013.

I try to add a workflow to an announcements list:

• The workflow simply sends an email. It's set to run when a new item is added.
• The workflow appears in the list of Workflows in SharePoint designer.
• However, despite being associated with the announcements list, the workflow doesnot appear in the list of workflows when I look at that list. It also does not appear in the web interface.
• It does appear that the workflow runs.

Please help - am I missing a step or is this a bug?
