We are moving a large number of files (thousands of files, 100GB+) to SharePoint online. Most files are <10MB. We have a 100 mbps fiber circuit that performs @ rated speed when we push data to a replication site, but when copying files to or from SharePoint online, the transfer rate averages between 4 and 6 mbps.
We have tried all of the suggestions listed in this article: http://4c-comm.com/blog/microsoft/resolving-slow-opening-documents-in-windows-explorer/ with no difference in performance.
We have tried Windows 7 x32, x64, 2008R2 and 2012; IE 10, IE11 and Chrome. No difference in OS.
We have tried a 2nd site with a 50mbps circuit, but same performance.
We have tried WebDav, CSOM, and 3rd party utilities including FastCopy and RoboCopy. While CSOM overall performed better, it was still limited to approx 6mbps.
Is there a limit to the transfer rates to/from a SharePoint Online document library?
If not, any suggestions on how to improve this performance would be appreciated.
