How to change Approvers once the approval Flow is setup on modern site pages

I have worked with SP on premises sometime ago and SPO seems foreign to me in lot of stuff.

I'm having a difficult time understanding how to manage approvers of the approval Flow on modern pages. Once setup thats it. Also I wanted to add SP security Group, but seems to only accept users.

The only way I was able to do it was by editing the Flow Approval step directly, but I wanted it to be more manageable and just teach someone less techy in the company how to add or remove users easily. Am I missing some setting?

Office 365 Sharepoint - Tracking Who is accessing your SharePoint files, when, and how often

Hello Everyone,

Two things here -

1. I am looking to pull reports from Sharepoint that will tell me, in the past year, how many times a document has been viewed, read, or modified, by who was it view, read or modified, and when. I have attempted to pull the data from the Audit logs, but I find that "System User" is displayed for thousands of the records instead of listing the exact user. There is no apparent logic to it, as some of us with the same permissions show up in this audit log and some do not. 

2. I want to better be able to track this data in the future, so I am looking to either add a new column (or new settings of some sort) or get an app that can pull this data from Sharepoint and analyze it for me. I would obviously prefer free apps, as I'm not sure my organization would be willing to pay for a license. Or if I can just do this with the current capabilities of Sharepoint, then that would be the best case scenario.

Site Page Template

I am new to SharePoint 0365 and I am trying to create a Site page template that has several unique document libraries, calendar, and discussion apps.  What is the best way to create such a site template?  I appreciate your feedback.

After submitting the sharepoint form Scroller doesn't move up

When you create a large (long) SharePoint customized form using webpart. After the form is submitted the right hand scroller doesn't move up. Please find attached sample form.

After you submit the right hand scroll doesn't move up is this a bug ?

SharePoint Online Architecture for large data

Hi,

I am looking for a robust SharePoint online architecture to handle extremely large set of data using external databases. System will face threshold issue if data is stored in SharePoint List. There will be custom forms for data entry, search, reports etc. I need to know the best architecture and technologies(PowerApps, SPFx etc for front end ,databases such as Azure SQL etc., Power BI for reports etc.) to achieve this.

Query string connections working but not showing

I have a site that uses a Query String (URL) Filter to show filtered data from the parent site lists on a subsite. The query string is set up so that it connects the lists via a unique identifier number. So the query string sends values to a list that has this unique number. The other lists use this unique number list to filter the data. Hope that all makes sense.

I recently had cause to look at this arrangement as one of the lists was no longer working. It was no longer filtering the data but showing all the data in the list. When I looked at it, I found there was no connection showing between this list and the unique number list. I was able to fix this by reconnecting the lists. In the course of doing this I found that while all the other lists were filtering the data, they were not showing as connected, as in the image below.

Can anyone provide an explanation for this situation?

Bing Search is not working in SharePoint Online modern sites

Dear All,

We have integration Bing search on our SharePoint online (tenant) site collection by following below Microsoft reference. We followed all the steps and configured properly and it working as expected in search central site but not in modern sites, means in modern sites, search results not including Bing/web.

Is there any other configuration changes needs to do in modern site to see the search results including Bing/web ?

Could you please verify and let us know if we missed anything for the same?

Sharepoint Site vs Microsoft Teams's Site

Hello SharePoint Gurus - When we create a team in Microsoft Teams, it created public group site in SharePoint. My question is could i use the same site for landing page of our intranet portal attached to the Hub Site?  Also, if i give visitor permission to the site, would they also be able to access team? I don't want visitor to see the conversations or any access to teams but can access the outcome (like articles sections, news sections or document libraries) from the team meetings to be published to the visitors.

SharePoint Online-to-SharePoint Online

Hi,

We have O365 and for example our initial domain name is "TEST1.ONMICROSOFT.COM". When we access our OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online you will notice the link and the domain name "TEST1" (for example: https: \\ TEST1-MY.SHAREPOINT.COM). So our problem is how to change this domain name "TEST1"? As per Microsoft, you can not change it, if you want you'd have to start a new subscription w / O365.

So, we came up with using 3rd-party migration tool. Will there be no problem with SharePoint Online side (for example: once you created a site in SharePoint Online, there will be a link, then it will be migrated on the new SharePoint Online which is in a different domain name. Can I still access my SharePoint Online given that it is now on a different domain)?

SPO PowerShell - Access to reponse headers (avoid throttling using Retry-After) & increase timeout on requests

Hello all,

I have been working on a script that creates monthly reports at the end of the month from our SharePoint Online environment in our company.

The reason behind this custom reporting scripts is to have data available about site owners, get sites that have groups Everyone and Everyone except external users, to get all Publishing portal owners, get all external or abandoned users, etc.

Our tenant has many sites, and the reports need to run each month, just a few days before the end of the month. I took after my colleagues initiative and continued developing a script that uses PowerShell for the reporting. This introduces a problem when dealing with intricate requests using the PowerShell SPO module. The problem is that because of all the traffic to our tenant's API (although I tried slowing down the requests with artificial breaks), it tends to quickly stop giving out data and instead throws error 429. I googled, and got to know that this is because of API request throttling. There is also a very nice tutorial on Microsoft's site that suggests how to deal with this. The issue is that this technique is not implemented in the PowerShell SPO module and there is no way I could access the Retry-After header for example to be able to efficiently throttle the connection myself and wait for the API to be ready again. Will this ever be implemented? This article about throttling has been up for quite some time, and it still has not been implemented... Please update the PowerShell SPO module? 

In the next instance, we have some big sites in our tenant and upon trying to probe them with calls like Get-SPOUser and Get-SPOSiteGroup, I cannot get the data needed. The command always times-out before returning any data (with or without -Limit All). I don't mind waiting a little longer for the command to complete, but I need it to complete. I also did not find any way of increasing the timeout limit which I find rather restricting. Can this feature be added? Or can the time be increased in any way?

I hope to find some answers here or get someone to update this module since I think it hasn't been updated in a long time and is half-done, missing many features that are available with .net/C#. Unfortunately I cannot develop this in .net/C#, so I rely on the PowerShell module.

workflow suspended Unable to run any workflow on SharePoint Online

I have several workflows on various lists of my SharePoint online site, which are set to fire off on item creation, edit or manually.
workflow working fine today workflow get suspended and getting following error.

Workflow 2013 inside our custom list stuck on "started" status

We have a custom list inside our SharePoint online site collection, and today the workflow is stuck on "started" status as follow:-


the error message is :-

Retrying last request. Next attempt scheduled in less than one minute. Details of last request: HTTP ServiceUnavailable to https://***.sharepoint.com/_api/web/lists(guid'277bd2a1-6d00-432d-ac2c-0732389a959f')/Fields?%24filter=EntityPropertyName+eq+%27Title%27 Correlation Id: 4590651d-d586-53c6-90f6-6d99e67e75f5 Instance Id: 551d2da8-f948-4cb1-867b-1e27317ea70e

and the list which is been referenced inside the error message is the "WorkFlow History" list. so can anyone advice on this please? i tried to re-run the WF using the global admin, but did not fix the issue.

How to create custom styled buttons for modern pages

I have been searching best ways to style modern pages for branding purposes and from what I understood you either have the option to change colors with theme generator from fabric UI framework or to create full webparts (or single page web parts) with any customization I want, but it seems to be missing middle ground.

I would hope SPFx would let me build simple stuff as just button component that I would be able to add inside a webpart. Even the default button is actually a monstrous webpart with just a button inside...so I guess it is not possible.

My real requirement is:

For my customer he would like to have buttons with the color of the company and with rounded corners? Is this possible on modern pages? what is the best approach?

We have more than 2,000 users and most of them don't have picture profiles. 

That said:

We want a web part or add-in for allowing any user to update his picture profile with NO IT intervention. Self-service (in the homepage). 

Any ideas?

Trying to Upload a File to a Teams Site via PnPFile Command

Hello! I am trying to upload a file to a Sharepoint Team site and this below is the PowerShell Script I am running:

What is the status of the Online Classic Team Site Collection?

I have been digging around all day looking for any information on the status of Online Classic Team Site Collections.  Are there any plans to remove the Classic Team Site Collection?  Right now you have to dig through a couple of menus to find the option but it is still there.  I've built many tools using the Classic site functions that are just not available with modern sites: CSS, scripting, page filters, and templating most of all.  

Many of the single site solutions I could do in modern, but anything that needs to be duplicated (like custom site templates or apps) can't be done in Modern.

So Two Questions: 

  1. Are there any plans to get rid of Classic Site collections? Point me to articles with the info - Either way.
  2. If I am wrong, and ANY of the functions are available in Modern, PLEASE point me to the web part, tools or articles that can tell me more!  All in all Templates are my biggest issue.

Share/Attach in Outlook from Cloud based locations (SharePoint)

Hello,

Currently I have some trouble to share/attach documents in Outlook from my SharePoint library.

My problem/question;

I would like to (mostly) work online, so I'm using the Outlook online, from here I want to attach documents from my SharePoint document library. 

In my SharePoint site I made a couple of new libraries, so I have the standard document library, created by SharePoint automatically, and around 10 libraries I made myself.

If I go to Outlook and create a new email, I want to attach documents from these created libraries.

If I click on ''Attach'' -> ''Browse cloud locations'' -> ''Groups'' I am able to see the right group/site and the standard shared library, but unfortunately not the ones I created.

So for some reason the libraries created by me aren't shared/shareable.

Which settings do I need to change so that I'm able to see them in my Outlook?

A thing I noticed in the URL is that the standard document library has a URL with; /Shared%20Documents/ in it and the ones I created do not.

SharePoint Search API doesn't retrieve all items from a list

Hi,

The SharePoint search API is not retrieving all the results that match the criteria. The requirement was to retrieve search results more than 500. So, I used the concept of StartRow to get all search results if more than 500. 

In order to test my changes, I copied more data into the DEV environment. The search API retrieved 590 results (assuming that my code worked) but the total number of matching results are 794 and I want to retrieve all of them.

Need your help in understanding if crawling takes time to take effect or am I missing something here?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
