In custom SharePoint Designer Workflow, elevated permissions (App step) stopped working all of sudden

Hi, Greetings for the day,

In SharePoint Online, I created a SharePoint Designer Workflow to add user to a group using below blog. It was working fine until last week and it stopped working from this week all of sudden. I did not make any changes since its created. Its throwing below error. I verified permissions for an account which was used to publish workflow, its in site collection administrators and nothing changed. I verified site features and site app permissions, the app step feature is activated and workflow app permissions entry is still there in Site App Permissions. As part of troubleshooting, I deactivated app step feature and reconfigured permissions, but it did not help. I created same workflow in different tenant, its working fine there. I am not sure what's the issue with this tenant.

Please let me know if anyone has experienced this issue in the past and if any resolution steps for it. Thanks in advance!

How to show top navigation menu from Term Store in Communication Site?

Hi,

The SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature can’t be enabled in Communication Site. Communication Site doesn't support global navigation using managed metadata.

How to show top navigation menu from Term Store in Communication Site?

Please let me know the solution for this issue.

Public CDN SharePoint Online Get File Error 500

Hi,
I have a sharepoint library enabled as a CDN and when I try to reference for example a js file in my SPFx component, it gives me a 500 error.

Can it be a problem in the SharePoint Online CDN?

SharePoint Designer Workflows

Hello All,

I am looking to get workflow that would change "approved" from yes to no when "Liability Expiry Date" is reached.

In other words if "Liability Expiry Date" was set to 05/03/2020 i would like a workflow that would change "approved" column from Yes(default) to No.

I did a some digging but struggling to get workflow to make the change. 

Any assistance appreciated.

Adaptive cards vs Fabric/Fluent UI - When to choose what ?

Hello,

 

While Fluent UI control helps to get similar O365 UI for custom web parts, there is also the possibility of customizing the web part using Adaptive cards meant for responsive UI based on Fabric UI.

 

As a difference, I see that the Adaptive card is more relevant for reducing post backs and also to support ore platforms such as Cortana and windows timeline.

 

If, I require to display the "Site Information" card with some customization, should I use an adaptive card or Fluent UI control while both provide similar UI? Or both together?

 

Would you please share what can be the best practice for choosing UI control for SPFx Web parts for Modern Sites?

Can you set tenant policies for the access request settings?

Hello!

When creating a new Office 365 group (via Teams for example) the default setting is that only the group owners can add new members to the group. This is in my experience the preferred option. However, any member of the group can add members to the Site Member-group on the corresponding SharePoint site.

Now, I want to edit the default behaviour so that this is not permitted, instead I want users to be able to share files and objects but not the whole site. Problem is, I cannot find a way to set a global policy for this anywhere in Office 365. Is it even possible?

Just to be clear, I know perfectly well how to set this for individual sites (both in the classic and modern experience) and I also have a PowerShell script for looping through all my sites and set it to my liking. Problem is that we have more than a thousand users creating new Teams for projects so I would really like to just set a company standard for this like I can do with sharing and basically everything else.

If anyone can point me to where or how I would be able to set a policy for this I would be forever grateful!

How to add O365 group as a member of SPO site

Hello,

I tried to add O365 group containing several people as a member of SPO site (so I can update the membership of the O365 group rather than members on SPO directly), but I am unable to do so - if I try to add the group via members "menu", I get "Cannot add <groupname> as a member".

What I am doing wrong? I am an owner of the SPO site as I am also owner of the MS Teams team that runs on it, and I am able to add individual users as members. i am also the one that created the O365 group that I want to add.

What I am doing wrong, what is the O365 group missing?

Hi,

I added Event webpart in a page and tried to add an event but I am getting the following error:

Can’t save this event. Refresh this page and try again, or contact the site owner.
One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields.

Also I am not able to change the time zone , it is showing below time zone but I am in India:

How to structure planning and migration documentation for SharePoint Online in existing tenant?

Hello,

We have Office 365 in place and we require to document the planning and migration envision for the existing on-premises application.

There are many documents that only says about deployment checklist or some having an details about bigger picture which seems to be not fitting well what I am looking for.

Can anyone please share how can I structure the documentation to include planning and migration into SharePoint Online for existing tenant without missing any functional/technical components?

Unable to Apply-PnPProvisioningTemplate on another tenant. Error "The specified user XXXX could not be found."

I want to copy a site collection from one tenant to another. insdie the source i run this command:-

Get-PnPProvisioningTemplate -Out c:\template20.pnp -IncludeSiteCollectionTermGroup

inside the destination i run this command:-

Apply-PnPProvisioningTemplate -Path c:\template20.xml

but on the  Apply-PnPProvisioningTemplate i got this error:-

Site usage report for a list of users in the past 90 days

Team,

I'm looking for a site collection usage report for a list of users say 50. For the past 90 days. 

We want to know who are the users actively working on this site in SPO.

Ex: User 1 last accessed time 03-20-2020    

      User 2 last accessed time 03-15-2020

In 0365 i tried site usage and activity reports but that doesn't help much.

How to display more than 5000 items in a document library on sharepoint online ?

Hi,

I have a document library which consists of more than 13000 items with some folder structure.I need to display more then 5000 items.I am trying to display using custom view using index (Id) but I am unable display more than 5000 items(may be problem with index because some of the items are deleted). Can we achieve this ? Please help me guys. Thanks..

Search - within metadata fields

Hi all, 

I searched on the internet for the answer and I found some interesting articles, but none of them are really answering my question.

I use site pages and I "categorize" them (for example site page "Contract" has the category "HR"). However, when I search in SharePoint and I type in "HR", it doesn't show me this page, even if I do something like this: category;HR . 

So, is it possible to search, default, in all metadata fields (so, not only in the title or the body/text)?

CAML query to get all the files and folders inside a sub-folder without getting threshold error

I have a document library which have 6,000 items, and i want to write a CAML query to get all the Files & Folders which are under specific folder. i tired those 2 CAMLs:-

What push exists for people to use hubs in Sharepoint Online when moving from on premises?

Our agency has two main on premises collections with a subsite for each division in the agency and each division controls their own subsite. Many subsites exist beyond that maintaining a hierarchy. Owners create needed subsites on demand with no oversight. Sharepoint has use for document libraries, mostly, with some lists. InfoPath sometimes has use for lists as well as Nintex workflows.

Converting this to hubs in Sharepoint Online seems a lot of work. We could plan a hub layout, create the hubs, then migrate each subsite one at a time to its corresponding hub. Use of the original would have to stop then start at the new, with the new serving as a test sight, and if acceptable, use would simply continue on.

Instead of this approach we could make one hub for each division and migrate each division in entirety along with subsites. That would save a lot of time. For document library and list use, they would get effectively the same thing and I do not see the need for further hubs or sub-hubs in that setting.

Rather than a migration we might use attrition, start them with an initial hub, make that the main hub for the division, then add new hubs as requested over time as they move functionality from the old Sharepoint to new Sharepoint.

I see a path for migration to Sharepoint Online similar to migrating from 2007 to 2010 to 2013. Is this doable? Also I see a path converting the subsite hierarchy to many hubs and tying them together. We know InfoPath and Nintex workflows do not work with Online, requiring us to address those instances individually.

Please comment with any experience you have with this.

Target audience in navigation of SharePoint Online not working

I am using SharePoint groups in Target Audience of navigation, but it is not working in SharePoint Online. The link where I added SharePoint group as target audience, does not appear to that users. 

Please help what I am missing?

Sharepoint Designer add/create aspx Site access denied

Hello

I have tried to create a new and modify a .aspx Site with Sharepoint Designer 2013 (SP1). This works fine for my root site (company.sharepoint.com). But if i try it for any subsite (company.sharepoint.com/sites/myProject) there is a Server error: Access Denied massage. Curiously to add a .html File via Sharepoint Designer works in both cases. 

I have also tried to add .aspx Site via VisualStudio Code/SPGo with the same result. I checked also the permissions (as far as possible online) and couldnt find any differences.

Do you have any idea where the problem stays?

Cast error in PowerShell CSOM to get all items from TaxonomyHiddenList

In a PowerShell CSOM script, I need to retrieve data from TaxonomyHiddenList but when I try to get all items by GetItems method

$myTaxHList.GetItems([Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.CamlQuery]::CreateAllItemsQuery())

a strange error occures (message is in italian, I try to translate it): impossible to cast "query" parament, with value "Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.CamlQuery" for "GetItems", in "Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.CamlQuery" .

What's wrong with my code?

Any pointers appreciated.
