Hybrid Sharepoint Plans in the Organization

Hi

We have 65 users and are considering licensing half of the user with SharePoint Online plan2 and the rest with plan1 

Is this technically possible? 

And what will be the experience from the plan1 user side if for instance we add search refiners - will he/she be able to see the customized refiners or will they simple see the default out of the box search results? ( doc type, author ,date)
