Template of a content type cant open and a error appears

I try to make a document in a document library.The new documentis a templateofa content type.Now theproblem I have withinternet explorer8get an error message as Istandbelow.The document is not opening.In addition,the current system is installed onOffice 2003.how do I getthis working?

The document cannot be made. The requiredapplicationmay not be properlyinstalled orthe template for thisdocumentlibrary cannot be opened.
