We are moving many of our documents to Office 365 Sharepoint Online. A couple of the folders we are moving are deep and contain many subfolders and files. For example there is a customer history folder with files (mostly Excel) and subfolders for pretty much every job ever done so it has around 10000 or so files/folders. I understand there is a 5000 file limit for Libraries in Sharepoint Online. What is the best practice? Re-organize the files and break them into libraries? To allow for growth I would make them a lot less than 5000 each. Currently it is alphabetically, so is the best way to break it up (A-E, F-J...ect). Just looking for some thoughts/advice. We were hoping to not have to reorganize but it does seem it is necessary... right?
