Apply retention policy to site design or use site classificatiob
Hi guys
Is it possible to apply retention policy to site deign in modern sharepoint site OR use site classification to apply retention policy?
I know you can create retention policy based on the content type back (in the old days), but i wonder if there is better way in the modern world.

Library was forced to open in Classic experience but sometimes opens in modern experience
We have a SharePoint online modern site collection with some document libraries and lists. We have forced one specific document library to open in classic version because we want to use fully featured document sets.
We can see the following scenario's:
- User is on a modern list and clicks on the quick launch to navigate to the library that we want in classic experience. The library opens in modern experience which is not wat we want!
- User goes directly to the URL of the library. The library opens in classic experience which is the expected result.
- User is on a classic list(task or calendar) and navigates by clicking the quick launch to the document library. The library opens in classic experience. This is also as expected.
I have checked the pageRenderType and that returns 14 ListSettingOff so that is correct.
There seems to be a problem with the "List experience" setting when you come from a modern experience. It gets ignored. The page is even not reloading but the content area is loaded with the content of the library. This is not consistent for the end users. Sometimes it opens in modern and in other cases it opens in classic.
It seems to be a bug. Are there other people with the same issue? Any idea's?

Using search query api to return birthday date
Hello, i am trying to use the sharepoint REST api to get all users birthdays. So i am using a crawled property
People:SPS-Birthday
with the managed property "RefinableDate00".
Yesterday 15/08/2019 (Thursday) it was working fine, but today when i search the users using the query:
_api/search/query?querytext=*&selectproperties='PreferredName,PictureURL,AccountName,RefinableDate00'&sourceid='b09a7990-05ea-4af9-81ef-edfab16c4e31'
The RefinableDate00 is empty for all users.
I dont know why this happening, someone has face this kind of thing before?

New to Sharepoint Online with Office 365 - Completed Pluralsight / edX training courses but I am still confused - what am I missing!?
So I have done some self-training online for Sharepoint Online and Office 365, however I still feel like I have no idea how any of this Sharepoint interconnectivity works...
It seems like even basic functionality in Sharepoint Online is very convoluted... For example... I created a slick "How To Article" BLOG site with versioning / date / created date, etc, but it seems that I can't DISPLAY any of these slick blog posts in any WebPart without having to load up scripting and Sharepoint Designer... ( I am not a very good programmer so that's not a great idea )
Does anyone have any resources I can review to update my understanding on this confusing topic?

i am setting up a new MS Sharepoint Online Farm for my Client . what things should i keep in mind
i am setting up a SharePoint O365 farm for my Client of 50 employees. what settings or things i should keep in mind while setting up.
i have few questions.
1. If some file is deleted 1 year back, what is the procedure to get the backup. ?
2. do i need to enable versioning in document libraries manually or it is already active in SharePoint online. ?
3. What if i want to recover a delete site 1 year ago?
Please suggest some settings/topics which i should cover while giving the presentation.

Remove underline from hyperlink in SPO Modern
In SPO classic any text which was a hyperlink you could remove the underline, I cannot seem to remove the underline that is created in SPO modern when it has an associated hyperlink, the only way I don't see the underline is when the hyperlink is removed... any ideas?

Connect to Sharepoint Online Powershell via CSP Credentials
Is there anyway to connect to a Sharepoint Online site via my Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) credentials in Powershell. (It's possible for Exchange Online, can't find anything about this for Sharepoint Online).
I'm trying to get a list of all customers sharepoint site sizes (a lot of customers) that won't be practical doing it 1 by 1 via the global admin for each site.

Sharepoint Online Authentication
Hi,
We have SharePoint Onprem topology in our application where the authentication happens using custom trusted identity provider hosted in our infra which provides authentication for both AAD & Microsoft Account. We are planning to migrate our onprem sharepoint to SharePoint Online. We are not sure how the authentication works in Online.
Could you please help answer below queries.
1. Do SharePoint Online support Custom identity provider which we can hook and get authenticated? Please point to some articles where we can take a look.
2. Do SPO support both AAD & Microsoft Authentications for the site? In a nutshell, we have a huge customers base who authenticates to our system using AAD / MSA based on their account exist.

Having issues sharing files or them even being visible to others.
Having issues sharing files or them even being visible to others. We have groups set up but only the person that created or modified the files can see the file even thought it is a shared file. Everyone in the group can access the folder but if you didn't create the file there is nothing there. Is this an access level issue? There is a share option but that only send a link to someone and you have to do it every time and for everyone in the group. Not useful for a shared drive. Not sure what to try.

Move Managed Metadata to SharePoint online

- We are using Managed Meta data in SharePoint 2016 with Cross Site Publishing Feature.
And now client decided to move our SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. - I a doing POC to know the list of options including tools(ShareGate,Metalogic) which are best suitable for migration and accomplish this feature.

How to get background image in div

I am trying to get background image as below:

But no results for me...
I have entered path like this : /SiteCollectionImages/WIFI%20Symbol1.png, because we have 3 different environments and the same code will be deployed at all so need dynamic path.
Please guide me on this.
